Dogs in a Bun Recipe
Got hot dogs? If you need something quick for dinner and are craving hot dogs, but have no buns handy, you can wrap those hot dogs in refrigerator biscuits and, voila! You have hot dogs with buns. While this isn’t a novel idea, it’s nice to be reminded of simple dishes that can be put together in just minutes of hands-on time.

These easy hot dogs are often referred to as Pigs in Blankets, but that term also covers breakfast sausages wrapped in dough as well as cocktail sausages wrapped in different kinds of dough. All told, there is nothing special about these hot dogs, but they make a quick dinner. You can serve them with the traditional hot dog accompaniments, or choose to cover them with canned chili or pair them with sauerkraut.

8 Servings

1 16 oz. can jumbo refrigerator biscuits (such as Grands)
1 16 oz. package hot dogs, (8 hot dogs)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with silpat or spray with non-stick spray.
  2. Open the refrigerator biscuits and roll each one into a oval about 4" by 6".
  3. Place a hot dog on the dough and roll the dough around the hot dog; seal the seam and place each on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. When all of the hot dogs are wrapped, place in the preheated oven and bake about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven and serve with ketchup, mustard, chopped onions, relish, chili, sauerkraut, etc.
